On Saturday Kim, Michelle, Brad, Dennis, Holt, and I headed North to the town of West for some authentic, Czech kolaches. The wind was blowing from the North and it was a bit chilly out. We got our kolaches and then headed home with the wind at our backs.

On Sunday Kim, Michelle, Brad, Claire, and I braved a steady 15 mph headwind as we headed South towards Mother Neff State Park. The wind reached speeds of 28 mph and gusts up to 33 mph. The ride ended up being 55 miles, but it was a tough 55 miles. We enjoyed some hills as well. The scenery was incredible, the wind couldn’t bring down our spirits, it was too beautiful of a day. Claire was chatting it up the entire way, look out for her this season, after some setbacks due to injury last year, this lady is coming into form for the 2013 season.

Since it was starting in Claremont and traveling up the slopes of Mt Baldy I figured I had to go. Many years ago my buddies and I used to spend countless hours riding up the mountain and beating the daylights out of each other in between stints working at Buds bike shop and attending high school. The day was awesome, after a trip to the village with my sister and dad for breakfast I meandered back to the hotel to find the crew all suited up and ready to ride. I got kitted up and hopped on the loaner bike and we headed up the mountain. It was awesome, both spending all day in the saddle riding up and around the mountain to watching some of the best in the world be destroyed by one of my favorite climbs in the world.
